Miss Outstanding Teen Pageant

Last night Abbey and I went to the Miss Outstanding Teen Pageant in Vicksburg. We ate supper at my parent’s house and then went with my mom and sister. I think she really enjoyed it. It was her first pageant to go too. Hopefully we will be able to get tickets to the Miss Mississippi Pageant in July and I can take her back. Vicksburg really does a great job putting these on.

Atlanta, GA here we come!

In and week from tomorrow we will be traveling to Atlanta, GA to catch in a few Cardinal baseball games (or Braves games if you ask Dennis). Anyway, I have no doubt that the Cardinals are going to win all the games. Sorry Dennis, but the Braves are stinking this year.

Saturday will pretty much be for traveling. We will probably just walk around some and get something good to eat that night. Sunday we are going to Six Flags. It has been years since I last went to one. I am very excited. It will bring back many childhood memories. The first time I ever rode a roller coaster was at Six Flags over St. Louis. I even remember the name of it, The Ninja.

Monday we are going to the new Aquarium and then seeing an IMAX show that afternoon. We will be going to game one at night. www.georgiaaquarium.org

Tuesday is July 4th so we are keeping this day open. We aren’t sure what all will be open and what will be going on. Hopefully they will have something to celebrate the 4th. We will go to game 2 at night.

Wednesday is left open as well. Hopefully we will get to do a little shopping. My dad will kill us, but a little shopping never hurts anyone. Game 3 is this night.

Thursday we will be heading home. The drive will be a drag, but we will have had a great time. I will post pictures when we get back. Have a great weekend!

Batter Up!

Brandon wanted to bat in the batting cage at the Mississippi Braves Game the other night. He did very good for his first time.

Weekend of Fun

This weekend was a lot of fun. It was very busy though. Friday night we went to the Mississippi Braves Game. It was fun, but we didn’t get home until late. They had a fireworks show that we stayed and watched. On Saturday, Dennis’s mom came over and cooked lunch and Abbey and Brandon played on their slip-n-slide. They had fun but it made a mud hole in the yard. We went to Dennis’s grandmothers on Sunday to eat lunch and then went and saw Garfield at the movies. It was really cute and Abbey and Brandon thought it was funny.

Mississippi Braves Game

Dennis and I went to a Mississippi Braves Game with Eric, Dennis's roommate, and his family. We all had a good time sitting around talking. We decided to leave during the 9th inning because it was 102 degrees and we were all about to burn up. Other than the heat, it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
This picture was made before a wedding that we went to a few weeks ago. Thought it would be nice to have a picture of us both dressed up.

Dennis and I went to a family reunion on Saturday. I decided that we should take a picture.

Random Pictures of Brandon

Below are several pictures of Brandon that Dennis took with his camera the other day. He was playing around with his camera at a family reunion that we went to. Some of them turned out really nice.

Things About Me!

I AM: a girl who loves to shop!

I WANT: to get married and have kids one day.

I HAVE: a wonderful boyfriend.

I WISH: that one day I will have a healthy family.

I HATE: having to get up and go to work.

I MISS: my family.

I HEAR: people typing away at work.

I WONDER: what my life will be like in 10 years.

I REGRET: not going to Mississippi State all 4 years of college.

I AM NOT: a person who likes to stand out in a crowd.

I DANCE: when I am drunk.

I SING: when I am in the car by myself.

I CRY: because all girls are emotional. That is what we do.

I AM NOT ALWAYS: right about everything.

I MAKE WITH MY HANDS: food!

I WRITE: terrible. I have never been great at it.

I CONFUSE: myself a lot!

I NEED: to save money!

I SHOULD: start studying for an insurance test that I have to take in July.

I START: watching movies and usually fall asleep during them.

I FINISH: all of my food. I need to start cutting back.

Something Blue by Emily Giffin

I just finished reading a book that was great. The name of it is Something Blue by Emily Giffin. I can’t wait to get Something Borrowed and Baby Proof by the same author. If you like to read, you would really enjoy her books.

Lauren's New Blog

My roommate Lauren decided to join the blog world yesterday. She has been interested in them for awhile so I talked her into creating one on her own. She wasn’t sure what to write about and I told her some of the things I blog. My blogs not the greatest, but it sure is fun to have. I think she will be hooked in no time. I know that I love to post different things on mine. You can visit her blog at www.adayinthelifeofadramaqueen.blog.com.

Top 10 Random Thoughts of the Day:

1. I love Mexican food, especially El Sombrero. I ate there for lunch on Sunday, dinner Monday night, leftovers for lunch yesterday, and for lunch today. People tend to think I am crazy for eating there so much, but I love it.
2. I am going to Atlanta, GA in July. I can’t wait until it gets here. The Braves are playing the Cardinals (which is a family favorite) and Dennis is a Braves fan. The games should be interesting with 4 Cardinals fans and 1 Braves Fan. Go Cardinals!!!
3. Shopping is a girls best friend or at least most girls. I know that it is my favorite thing to do in my spare time. I need lots of money when I shop which I never seem to have. If I have money, I never find anything but when I am so broke I can always seem to find a million things.
4. I am getting hooked on Grey’s Anatomy. I am not much of a TV person (besides MTV) and everyone at work talked about Grey’s Anatomy and how great of a show it was. I decided to buy Season One and boy were they right. It is a really good show for all types of people. I am ready for Season Two to come out on DVD so that I can continue watching it.
5. Collecting recipes is a new fetish that I have. I love buying cookbooks and trying to make new things. Send me all of your recipes because I would love to try them out.
6. Over the last few weeks, I have been interested in new ways to decorate my apartment. I am getting tired of the same old stuff. My apartment’s not that big so I have to try not to over do it. I look for craft magazines in stores but can’t seem to find one that catches my eye.
7. It is hard to work during the summer months. Whenever I go out to lunch, it is always so hard to come back. I think about how I would love to be at the pool with an ice cold beer and a good book in my hand. This summer is especially hard because it is my first summer that I have had a real job.
8. I saw the 2006 Camry the other day and I am obsessed with it. I love the body style and the inside is really nice. I guess I will just have to keep dreaming because I just bought a car a year ago.
9. Sweet Tea is my favorite drink. There is nothing better then a big glass of it on a hot summer day. It always quenches my thirst.
10. The Hills is a new TV show on MTV that I watched on Wednesday nights. It is about Lauren, from Laguna Beach. From 9:00 to 9:30, there is silence in the apartment because Lauren, my roommate, and I are glued to the TV.

Movie Week!

Dennis and I went and saw The Omen (www.headtheomen.com) last night at the movies. It was really good. I had expected it to be a lot scarier than it was. The theater was packed and so we had to sit up close but for the most part it was fine. Our necks weren’t hurting too bad.

Sunday we went to see The Break Up at the Madison Theater. It was my first time to see a movie there and it was really nice. I was very impressed. The Break Up was a good movie as well. Vince Vaughn is hilarious and he keeps you laughing during the entire movie. I didn’t like the way it ended because it leaves you hanging. You aren’t real sure whether they get back together or not.

Going to see 2 movies in one week is very unusual for me. Movies usually aren’t my thing, but there are several out that I have been wanting to see and more are coming out this summer. I am really starting to enjoy a variety of movies. I guess I am getting out of the whole chick flick only movies. Don’t get me wrong. I still like them. (Lauren should be really proud of me!!)

The House Behind the Weeds

Just two little boys walking down a dusty lane.....They came upon this old white house... with broken window panes.

The paint was faded, the shine was gone.... the grass had grown so high..... still they made their little feet go... to see what was inside.

They opened up the squeaky door. and then it came to light.... This must have been an old church house... once upon a time.

Dirty, dusty wooden pews... a pulpit that still stood... A Bible laid upon it... though the pages weren't too good.

An offering plate and song books too... were lying on the floor.

They must have left this old church fast... the day they closed these doors.

And over in the corner, a piano was still there. It must have played a pretty tune... but I guess nobody cared

So little Bill looked up at Tommy... and Tommy looked at Bill... Why don't we clean this old church up and get these old pews filled?"

They took a rag and wiped the dust... to try and make things shine.

And then they took the offering plate... and put in it their last dime.

They took a broom and swept the floor... and picked up broken glass....

They got it all so nice and neat... and then they mowed the grass.

They lifted up the old church sign... and stood it by a tree...right down by that old dirt road.... where everyone could see.

They ran back home, to find Daddy gone... but their Momma was inside... Just to find her hurt again. where Daddy had made her cry.

"Don't cry Momma, wipe those tears," Little Bill and Tommy smiled...

"Cause we have a big surprise for you.... just down the road a mile."

Hand in hand they tugged at her. until they made her run.... "What is itBill, Oh Tommy, just what have you two kids done?"

And then they came upon the house.. once hidden by the weeds... and there it stood a country church... just like it used to be.

"But what is it, Mother? What's with your tears? We thought this would bring you joy." "Yes, but hush kids now and listen close... my two sweet precious boys."

They both got quiet and stood real still.... for the words they heard so true.... was Daddy praying in the church... with his head bowed on the pew.

"Forgive me Lord! Forgive me Lord! though I'm not worthy of Your love..shine down on this sinner man.. sweet Salvation from above."

"For I've been out in the world, You know.... living my life all wrong....until I came upon this church; the place where I belong."

"I never noticed it before... all those times I passed it up. I guess I wasn't looking, Lord.... or maybe I was drunk."

"Bless oh Lord, yes, bless oh Lord... the one who made me see....this little church that used to hide... behind all those tall weeds."

And then he raised his head and stood... with his hands high in the air..to find two, dirty, tear-faced boys.. with Momma standing there

They ran up to him, hugged him tight... as their tears fell on the floor.

"Don't worry kids, I'm not the Dad, the one you've known before."

Things are different for us now... so keep on those pretty smiles...and let's go gather people in... to walk down these church aisles."

Then Bill looked up at Tommy, and Tommy looked at Bill..."Come on brother, let's get to work.... to get these old pews filled."

"For we need no special blessing... for cleaning up this church....cause, God gave us back our Daddy... and that's more than gold is worth."

Sunday morning, pews all filled.... and smiles on every face..Especially two little country boys... the ones who found this place.

Though it was hid back in the weeds.. and so far out of sight... Nothing's ever hard to find... if you're walking toward God's light.

1 John 1:7 "We walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."
